Tahliye Taahhütnamesi (Eviction Commitment)
A tenant's written commitment to vacate a rented property by a specific date. Notarization is not required for legal validity — written form is sufficient.
A critical document for owners planning to rent out their property.
The key validity condition
The commitment must be signed strictly after the lease agreement's signing date — at least a day later. If the dates match, courts will void the document, on the reasoning that the tenant signed under move-in pressure.
How it plays out in practice
From the date stated in the commitment, the owner has one month to start enforcement proceedings (İcra) or file an eviction suit — missing that window forfeits the right to rely on the document. The tenant can contest the enforcement order within 7 days of being notified — which pauses the process until a court rules. This is why notarization, though not legally required, is worth doing in practice: it rules out any dispute over the signature's authenticity, a dispute that can otherwise drag the case out for months.
